Deputy Chief MacDonald is the Shift Commander of Group 1. He was appointed to Nashua Fire Rescue as a Firefighter in March 1984. He was promoted to Lieutenant in January 1992, to Captain in 2004 and to Deputy Chief in July 2015.

Deputy MacDonald holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Service Administration from the State University of new York at Empire State College. He holds an Associates of Science Degree in Fire Science from Bristol Community College.

Deputy MacDonald holds several state and national certifications. He is a member of the SMART Hazardous Materials Response Team as a certified Hazardous Materials Technician. He was the Captain of the hazmat team from 2005 to 2013. He holds several certifications as a rescue diver. He is one of the original dive team members. He served as the dive team Captain from 2004 to 2009.
