The Division of Public Works, Solid Waste Department will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, for the Labor Day holiday. The Four Hills Landfill / Nashua Recycling Center will be closed on that day and there will be no collections at curbside. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Collections of recyclables, trash, and soft yard wastes will be delayed by one day during the week, with Monday's routes picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 5; Tuesday's routes on Wednesday, Sept. 6; Wednesday's routes on Thursday, Sept. 7; and Thursday's routes on Friday, Sept. 8. Friday's routes will be collected on Saturday, Sept. 9.
Residents must place all trash in garbage bags before putting the bags in the cart. Carts must be kept at least three feet from any obstacle, such as a mailbox, and at least ten feet away from vehicles parked at curbside. All containers must be at curbside by 6:45 a.m. on collection day.
The Solid Waste Department reminds owners of backyard pools to properly disposal of chemicals used to treat the water. Pool chemicals should NOT be put into the trash but must be brought to a household hazardous waste collection. The last two collections for this year will take place on Saturday mornings, Oct. 7 and Nov. 4 at the Public Works Garage near the Police Station.
