[ARCHIVED] Pilot Program for Future NTS Bus Service Starts on 8/24/20

Phase 3 Pilot Program of future bus service starts 8/24/2020

Beginning Monday, August 24, 2020 Nashua Transit System will launch a pilot program of future bus service with Phase 3 of their return to service plan.

Nashua Transit System has taken a comprehensive review of the entire transit system and has redesigned bus service with efficiency in mind to include additional locations and increased frequency of service to better meet the needs of Nashua’s citizens. The result is a pilot program of what NTS envisions as their future service model. Rider benefits will include expanded service areas, increased frequency of service to popular destinations and increased Saturday service.

“During the pandemic, NTS has reevaluated the performance of our bus routes and redesigned the lowest performing routes to provide improved service with reduced travel times and greater efficiency. Starting August 24th, we will pilot the service, collect ridership data, as well as gather public input to determine the continued viability of these system-wide changes. After a successful completion of the pilot process, the goal is to move forward with a new set of routes and schedules that enhance the user experience,” said City of Nashua Transportation Manager, Camille Pattison.

The Phase 3 service plan includes ten Daytime Service routes and three Night Service Routes. Certain routes have been modified to include additional service areas of interest. All daytime routes now depart the Transit Center on the hour or on the half hour. Night routes will return to departing at 45 minutes past the hours.

New! On-Demand Night Service

As part of the Phase 3 pilot, NTS will run an on-demand service between the hours of 7:00pm and 10:00pm. Reservations will be based on availability and are first-come first-served. This On-Demand service will be shared-ride origin to destination anywhere in the City of Nashua. Passengers can call (603) 880-0100 ext. 1, same day or up to 1 week in advance to make a reservation. Fare for this service will be $5 each way, exact change only.

Public Input

Input from riders, community members and local stakeholders are highly encouraged. During this pilot period NTS will seek public input on the changes through a variety of public outreach formats and events including:
