The sidewalk plow routes are evaluated annually to take into consideration the most current routes used by children to walk to school. View the
sidewalk plow routes map (PDF) to find the streets that take priority to clear after a snow storm. It is the city’s goal to have all primary sidewalks on the current map cleared within 72 hours of the end of the storm.
Primary Sidewalks
Primary sidewalks are those located on the main roads, as well as those determined to be the safest walking routes for students to area schools. This makes for over 50 miles of sidewalks that the City makes an effort to maintain and plow during the winter season. Since the same personnel who plow are also redeployed to clear sidewalks, secondary routes are attempted as time and weather conditions allow. Citizens are encouraged to clear sidewalks in front of their homes and businesses to assist the City in keeping sidewalks safe and passable.
