About Public Works

When you travel on a City street, take a stroll on a sidewalk, place trash and recycling at the curb, or picnic in a park, you are benefiting from the services of the Nashua Division of Public Works. These benefits are an important part of our daily lives, but most of us take them for granted. Nashua residents are touched by Public Works every day. We understand the importance of our work and its impact on the City.

We Are Public Works

Paving Schedule

There are many factors that can affect our Paving Schedule and this list is subject to change without notice.  The City has hired engineering consultants Hayner-Swanson, Inc. and Stantec, to assist the City with street selection for paving. Selection criteria includes, among other things, identifying roads that are in distress. In addition, coordination with Liberty Utilities and Pennichuck Water is also done to ensure that infrastructure associated with their capital projects are completed prior to the road being paved. Once a street is paved, there is a 5 year rule that prohibits cutting into a newly paved street unless there is an emergency situation.

 Military Tribute Banner Program

Nashua DPW is proud to announce an opportunity for families/sponsors to honor our unsung heroes - our past and present military members . Our Military Banner Tribute Program allows families and/or sponsors to purchase a banner featuring the name, photo, and pertinent military information of the military member chosen to be honored. These banners are displayed along the Veterans Memorial Parkway from Memorial Day thru Veterans Day, and once they are taken down, they will be given to the family or sponsor of the military member as a keepsake.

We are working with an organization called MilitaryTributeBanners.org. The cost of each banner is $175 (that is the cost of the banner - the Nashua DPW will be donating the time and labor needed to display the banners) and can be paid by credit card on the website (see below), or by check dropped off at the DPW Administrative Offices at 848 West Hollis Street.

We accept requests for banners every two years - the next opportunity for ordering a banner will be winter 2024, as the banners are displayed on Veterans Memorial Parkway in two year cycles. Priority will be given to current/former Nashua residents first, followed by current/former Hillsborough County residents and finally former/current New Hampshire residents.
