American Recovery Program Act (ARPA)
Municipalities across the nation are the beneficiaries of a significant influx of federal funds via the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). ARPA is intended to address the negative health and economic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In Nashua, we expect to receive approximately $16,138,777.00 in funds. There is a need for $1.7 million of funding ($500,000 for back-up servers and $1.2 million in revenue replacement for the FY’22 operating budget), which leaves $14,438,777.
At the Nashua Board of Aldermen meeting on September 8, 2021 a presentation was given and a draft framework acting as a preliminary plan to communicate a vision for how the American Recovery Plan Act funds will be used.
At the September 14, 2021 Board of Aldermen Meeting, the Board will have a 1st reading accepting these funds. Over the coming weeks the Office of Economic Development with the assistance of Financial Services and the Office of the Mayor will undertake a community outreach effort to discuss an appropriate framework. We'd like to offer residents an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft framework for spending ARPA funding, which has specific eligibility requirements.
This is the beginning of a conversation and we are looking for feedback. It is the goal to develop a plan that will have meaningful and lasting impact on Nashua. Click the play button below to watch the presentation at the September 8, 2021 Board of Alderman meeting.
