The Mayor's Volunteer Recognition Committee

Mission Statement
"To recognize Nashua volunteers and enhance the quality of volunteer programs while providing a supportive, professional network for colleagues."

Chairperson 2009: Carol Luers Eyman, Outreach and Community Services Coordinator for the Nashua Public Library. Contact Carol Luers Eyman.

This quilt was created in 1999 to commemorate all of the local organizations that have volunteered for over 50 years. The Mayor's Volunteer Recognition Committee adapted the idea of an old fashioned handmade quilt as the symbol of caring and giving for all their time and energy that they volunteer daily to Nashua schools, hospitals, churches and agencies.

The Mayor’s Volunteer Recognition Committee logo was created in 2004 by the Nashua Senior High School students in Mark Christensen’s graphic design class. Mr. Christensen also worked with the Mayor’s Committee to pen the new tag line, “Applauding Those Who Volunteer,” and incorporated the City of Nashua’s nickname, “The Gate City,” also into the design. Cleverly the students were able to incorporate the tag line by subtle clapping hands in the new logo.
