4. Can I return to my meter and insert more money to stay longer?
You must leave a parking space when the time limit posted on the meter has been reached. It is illegal to deposit additional coins in the meter after the time limit has been reached. Street meters are intended for short-term parking. The purpose of the time limit is to ensure that parking spaces regularly become available for customers of businesses and visitors to the area. You may return and deposit coins to increase your stay at the ten-hour meters. Click here for parking map.
5. The meter doesn’t seem to register all the coins or the parking card that I have inserted?
The electronic meters utilize two electronic eyes, which must read your coin as it drops. Coins should be dropped slowly so the eye can register each coin prior to the next being inserted. The meters do not take foreign coins or tokens of any kind. Be sure to select the appropriate parking space. If the meter becomes jammed it still may take coins although you will not be given credit. The meter will go into and display an “out of order” or “JAM” symbol within 60 seconds after it has been jammed. The meter will display the same type of error codes for problems with the parking card and may additionally instruct you to pull your card from the meter. Pull your card from the meter, wait several seconds and then reinsert. If the meter continues to instruct you to pull the card, remove your card and contact the Parking Department at 603-880-0100 ext. 3 or email by clicking this link Parking Department.
