Please recycle the following mixed papers and containers:
ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS
- Smooth cardboard and corrugated cardboard
- Newspapers, magazines and catalogs
- White and colored paper
- Mail and envelopes
- Paper Bags
- Soft cover books, telephone books
- Shredded paper - in paper bags only, taped or stapled closed
- Plastic bottles, jars and jugs # 1 through # 7
- Glass bottles and jars
- Milk and juice cartons, drink boxes
- Clean aluminum foil wrap and trays
- Metal cans - tin and aluminum
UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS (place these in regular trash)
- Soft paper (napkins, tissues and paper towels)
- Waxed or plastic-coated paper (candy wrappers, oatmeal & hot cocoa packets, frozen food boxes and take-out containers)
- Soiled paper, Styrofoam and plastic bags
- Other types of glass (mirrors, incandescent light bulbs, ceramics and glassware)
RECYCLING TIPS
- Flatten cardboard and cut to 36 inches square; place between the two bins
- Remove liners from cereal boxes, etc.
- Staples, tape, glue and any papers that can tear are acceptable
- Papers with confidential information may be shredded and placed in a paper bag and taped or stapled to prevent litter
- Newspapers may be put into paper grocery bags for convenient storage and handling
- Rinse all containers; labels may remain
Two bins are provided by the Solid Waste Department, but residents may put out additional bins. These extra bins must have handles and be no taller than the recycling bins; barrels or plastic bags are NOT accepted as extra containers.
