Pools and Spas

Approximately 100 public pools and spas undergo the following:

• Annual licensing  (Annual Fees are:  Indoor Pool :  $ 325.00, Outdoor & Wading Pools: $ 275.00, Spa & Hot Tubs: $ 250.00)
• Plan reviews of new installations; and
• Training seminars

Routine inspections consist of:

• Safety equipment requirements
• Operation of pool equipment
• Basic pool side testing for pH, total alkalinity, total dissolved solids, calcium hardness, algae, and sanitizer levels
• Presence of test kits and operation logs

During pool visits a water sample is collected and tested by the Department’s state-certified lab for the following:

• Fecal Coliform
• Pseudomonas Species
• Staphylococcus Aureus
• Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
