The Fleet Maintenance division of Nashua Fire Rescue is responsible for maintaining a total of 44 vehicles ranging from pumpers, ladder trucks, command and other support vehicles.  Problems ranging from heavy duty diesel engine repair to pumps to hydraulic issues are handled daily.  The division made up of three members also maintains all fire stations generators, multiple fuel stations, all hand and power tools and the breathing apparatus used by every firefighter.  The Fleet Maintenance division also responds to fire incidents with a mobile air truck.  Work performed ranges from routine maintenance to major repairs and overhauls.  Each mechanic holds ASE certification and are State of New Hampshire vehicle inspectors.

Thomas Stepney
Superintendent of Mechanical Division

Serving with the Navy Seabees 1978 to 1983 and then working in the private sector as a manger, head mechanic and eventually a small business owner Superintendent Stepney holds numerous certifications.  Appointed as a mechanic in May 1995, was promoted to his current position in the fall of 2004.

Superintendent lives in Milford with his wife of over 29 years and has two children.

Phillip Pichette
Assistant Superintendent of Mechanical Division

Appointed to the department April of 2001.


David Powell
Mechanic 

Appointed in August of 2002, Mechanic Powell comes from over 23 years of service to the town of Groton Massachusetts, prior to that he served as a Firefighter at Fort Devens.  Certifications as an ASE mechanic along with Waterous pumps and Ladder maintenance from Pierce.

Married for over twenty one years and has three sons.
