Fairmount Street Bridge to close November 10, 2014
The project undertaken by the City of Nashua to construct the Broad Street Parkway is continuing to advance. The recent opening of the Baldwin Street Bridge completed a major milestone for the project. One of the next major efforts will be the replacement of the Fairmount Street Bridge. As a result of this work, Fairmount Street will be closed to through traffic from Baldwin Street and Intervale Street to Charles Street. Residents who live on the closed section will be able to access their homes from the closest end that is open to traffic. All traffic to and from the area west of the Fairmount Street Bridge including Little Florida and the area east of the former tannery site will be able to use the Baldwin Street Bridge for access.

It is anticipated the closure of the Fairmount Street Bridge will start on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014. The closure is to continue until the completion of the bridge, scheduled for prior to December 1, 2015.

If you have any questions or concerns during this process, please contact the City of Nashua, Division of Public Works at 603-589-3140.

Thank you for your patience during this construction process.

Broad Street Parkway Public Info Meeting Concerning Lowering Water Level of Nashua Canal
A public informational meeting will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Room 208 of City Hall regarding a plan to lower the water level in the Nashua Canal while an outlet control structure is replaced.

This information meeting will be included as part of the regularly scheduled Nashua Conservation Commission meeting.

The Broad Street Parkway South Contract includes work throughout the Millyard area, such as the construction of an outlet structure to replace the existing structure where the canal flows underground at Pine Street Extension. This replacement structure is necessary because the Parkway project will widen the roadway at this location. To manage stormwater while the replacement structure is under construction, it will be necessary to lower the canal by approximately 12 inches.

Questions regarding the lowering of Nashua Canal should be sent to the attention of the City Engineer:
Division of Public Works
9 Riverside Street
Nashua, NH 03062

Questions can also be asked by calling 603-589-3120.
